  運命の歯車が動き出した35歳

  　笑子と札幌で出会ったとき、僕はメッキ工場の派遣の工員でした。僕が一方的に熱を上げて翌年、35歳のときに結婚までたどり着きました。看護助手をしていた彼女の趣味はサーフィンで、北海道の冷たい海を離れ、暖かい種子島でサーフィン三昧の生活を送るという夢がありました。種子島といえば宇宙センターですが、資格もない高卒の僕にできる仕事はなさそうで、別の地を探しました。
  　歴史が好きで、昔から四国に憧れていたため、高知はどうかと提案しました。「これからは農業だ」と漫画『美味しんぼ』の影響を受け、たまたま入った漫画喫茶で深い考えもなく、「高知・農業」とインターネットで検索したら、時給９００円の求人が出てきました。当時の時給と同額です。すると、笑子はその場で飛行機を予約し、次の週の休みに社長面接に行き、２人分の研修先と家を決めてきました。とにかくすごいんです、行動力が。
  　３か月後にはもう高知県に移住し、働き出した先が有機農家でした。『美味しんぼ』の山岡士郎さんから、「有機農業」は学んでいましたが、単に時給で選んだので、有機だったのは偶然です。高レベルの先進的な農家で、社長さんは赤鬼のように雷を落としていました。いま役に立っている知識はそこで覚えたことばかりですから勉強になりましたが、初めての肉体労働はきつかったですね。

  「怒られたくないから新規就農しよう」

  　笑子は１年経たずに、怪我を機に有機の学校の職員に仕事を移りました。寮に入ったので新婚８か月で離れ離れ、週に１回だけ会う生活で、「何のために移住したんや」と寂しかったです。その辺りから、「農業は好きだけど、使い物にならないと怒られるなら自分でやろう」という気持ちが彼女のなかで芽生えていたようです。初めて経験した農業をもう二人で始めようと考え、新規就農の理由が「怒られたくないから」。びっくりしました。
  　「農作業がないときにサーフィンをしやすい、海に近い場所」という笑子の希望の地を求め、休みのたびに県内をあちこちドライブして回りました。県下の市町村で唯一未踏だった大豊町の役場の方と農業機械の研修会で知り合い、いざ畑を見にいき、山や川、棚田があって米が実る日本の原風景に、「日本昔話ってこれだったのか」と、北海道育ちの僕はズキュンときて、当初の目的のサーフィンを忘れてしまいました。効率を心配して不安がる笑子を「みんなと同じことをしていたらだめだ」と説得したようですが、実は全く覚えていません。

  透き通った爽やかな辛さが特徴

  　しょうがで成功していた赤鬼さんの指導を忠実に実践して栽培しています。しょうがは熱帯性ですが、標高７００メートルの寒冷地でも、こぶの一個一個が太い特徴のあるものができました。県で一番メジャーな土佐一号という品種ですが、別の品種のようだと評されます。たくさんの肥料や水でドカンと太らせる栽培ではなく、じわっと自然に育てるとエグミや苦味が出ません。お客さまからは、透き通った爽やかな辛さだといわれます。
  　肥料や稲わらも地元のものにこだわり、土づくりをしています。水は標高１４００メートルの梶ヶ森頂上付近から引きました。ホースが凍らない深さに掘って５００メートルほど埋め込みましたが、「この道路の下に宝物が埋まっているのを俺たちだけが知っている」と楽しい気分になれます。
  農業の醍醐味はお客さまからの励ましの手紙と豊作です。２年前の秋、僕は生まれて初めて嬉し泣きしました。種芋が何倍に増えたかを指標にしていますが、例年４〜５倍のところ、おととしは7倍とれたんです。保管庫もパンパンで、金メダルを取って喜びに泣く人の気持ちがわかりました。
  なんとなく始めた有機でしたが、お客さまから親戚のように励ましの声や季節のお野菜などが届きます。喜んで、待っていてくださるお客さまのせいで人生が決まりました。期待を受けて応えるという人間としての快感を味わうと、「作れないから農薬を撒くことにしました」なんて言えません。喜ばれるものを追求することが一番になりました。

  幸せの連鎖で名付けたラッキー農園

  　１年で最も楽しいのは収穫です。刈った草を集め、粉砕してすき込み、肥料を撒いて耕運、畝立て、植え付け。３反の全圃場を見回って丁寧に毎日行う芽出し作業は、丸１日かかります。その集大成が収穫です。猛暑の炎天下、アイスノンを頭に乗せてがんばった作業の日々が走馬灯のように駆け巡り、成果が素晴らしければ嬉しいものです。
  　望まれた量をすべて供給できる収量が目標です。圃場の大きさとしては４反、10年後には1町は作っていたい。最近ようやく信用度がちょっと上がり、ここ１、２年で土地が借りやすくなりました。日本だけでなく世界にも販路はあると考えています。ただ、労働力のほうは今年ぐらいが限界です。手伝ってくださる方がいたら、ここに移住してもらいたい。少しでも人が増えればお世話になっている町に多少は恩返しができるかなと思います。
  　笑子や農業、この町との出会いのすべてがラッキーですからラッキー農園と命名しました。笑子は幸運の女神。出会わなければ僕はいまでも札幌の工場で、メッキ仕事をしていたかもしれません。

  35 years old when the gear of destiny began to move

Her hobby as a nursing assistant was surfing, and she dreamed of leaving the cold seas of Hokkaido and living a warm surf on the warm Tanegashima Island.   Kochi suggested that he loves history and longed for Shikoku. Under the influence of the comic “Delicious Shinbo” that says “It is agriculture from now on”, there was no deep thought in the manga cafe that happened, and if you searched for “Kochi / Agriculture” on the Internet, a job with an hourly wage of 900 yen came out. It is the same amount as the hourly wage at that time. Then, Sachiko booked an airplane on the spot, went to the president's interview on the next week's holiday, and decided to have two training destinations and a house. Anyway, it's amazing, its ability to act.
  Three months later, I moved to Kochi Prefecture and started working at an organic farm. I learned “Organic Agriculture” from Mr. Shiro Yamaoka from “Delicious Shinbo”, but it was just a coincidence that it was organic because I chose it on an hourly basis. A high-level advanced farmer, the president was thundering like a red demon. I learned a lot of knowledge that is useful now, so I learned it, but it was hard for me to do my first manual labor.

  "We don't want to get angry so I'll start a new farm"

  In less than a year, Laughter moved to an organic school employee after an injury. Since I entered the dormitory, I was separated from my newly-married 8 months and met only once a week. From that point on, she seemed to have a feeling of “I like farming, but I'll do it myself if I get angry if it ’s not useful”. The reason for the new farming is "I don't want to get angry". surprised.
  In search of a place where Laughing would like to be "close to the sea where it is easy to surf when there is no farming work", I drove around the prefecture every time I took a break. I met the Otoyo-cho government office, which was the only unexplored municipality in the prefecture, at an agricultural machinery workshop, went to see the fields, the mountains, rivers, terraced rice fields and the original Japanese landscape, I was raised in Hokkaido, and I forgot to surf the original purpose. She seems to persuade Laughing, who is worried about efficiency, that she can't do the same thing as everyone else, but she doesn't remember it at all.

  Characteristic is clear and refreshing spicy

  We cultivate by faithfully practicing the guidance of Akagi who was successful in ginger. Although the ginger is tropical, even in a cold region at an altitude of 700 meters, each hump has a characteristic with thick features. It is the most major variety in the prefecture called Tosaichi, but it is said to be a different variety. It doesn't grow with a lot of fertilizer or water, and it doesn't give you a bitter taste or bitterness when grown naturally. It is said by customers that it is clear and refreshing.
  Fertilizers and rice straw are also made with local specialties. The water was drawn from the top of Kasumigamori at an altitude of 1400 meters. The hose is dug to a depth where it doesn't freeze, and is buried about 500 meters, but it feels fun when we only know that treasure is buried under this road.
  The best part of agriculture is a letter of encouragement from customers and a good harvest. Two years ago, I cried for the first time in my life. The index is how many times the soy seeds increased. The vault was full of bread, and I realized the feelings of people who cry joyfully taking gold medals.
  Although it was organic somehow, customers received voices of encourage and seasonal vegetables from relatives. Our life was determined by the customers who were happy and waiting. If we enjoy the human pleasure of responding to customers expectations, We can't say "We decided not to make without pesticides because we couldn't make them." Pursuing something that pleases us was the best.

  Lucky farm named after a chain of happiness

  The most fun part of the year is harvesting. Collected grass, pulverized and plowed, fertilized and cultivated, planted, planted. It takes a whole day to sprouting every three fields and carefully sprouting every day. The culmination is the harvest. I am glad if the days of intense work with the head of Ice ran around like a running horse light under the hot heat, and the results were wonderful.
  The goal is a yield that can supply all the desired amount. As for the size of the farm field, I would like to make one town in 10 years. Recently, the credit rating has finally improved a little, and land has become easier to rent in the last couple of years. I believe there are sales channels not only in Japan but also in the world. However, the labor force is about this year. If you have any help, please move here. I think that if the number of people increases even a little, I will be able to give some relief to the town I am indebted to.
  Lucky farming, farming, and meeting with this town are all lucky, so I named it Lucky Farm. Syouko is a goddess of luck. If I didn't meet her, I might still have plating work at a factory in Sapporo.

大豊に暮らす人や訪れる人がゆとりを体感できる「ゆとりすとカントリーおおとよ」の実現を目指す大豊町に対し、「むしろ、日本初の限界自治体という側面の方が面白いと思い、それにちなんだ名前を野菜に付けて知ってもらいたいと考えました。でも、僕らが思いついた限界トマトや限界ショウガは、おいしくなさそうな響きで」と寿緒さん。「素人とは目の付け所が違うプロの方が野菜の前に限界突破とつけてくださったんです。最初は強烈さに違和感があったんですけど、次第にかっこいいと思えてきました」
笑子さんのその後の行動が素早かった。将来、事業を拡大したときのことを考慮し、「限界突破」を商標登録しようと調べ、申請方法を電話で尋ね、自分自身で手続きしたのだ。
「中途半端にできるとロゴも自分で手がけてしまうかもしれませんが、私たちはまるでセンスがないので、プロの方にお願いして、かっこいいものを作っていただきました」と笑子さん。差別化を図り、特徴やこだわりを明確に打ち出したブランディングは、一次産業の活性化にも繋がってゆくだろう。
